The ability to soil test on grids and using Global Positioning Satellite technology actually could be blamed for making soil testing more complicated and costly than in the past. Robert Miller Ph.D., soil scientist, Colorado State University, says the soils lab analysis cost is not the true cost of soil testing. His information suggests that it is costing on average $18 per acre for the physical act of pulling soil samples.
